a rose that grew from concrete

HERSTORY

Rebekah Rose is a large scale abstract painter, currently living in Baltimore surrounded by a sea of up and coming artists who keep her both inspired and motivated. She is trained in many mediums by her mother who has been creating art for 40 years but focuses on painting. Though Rose has been painting for over 15 years she has spent the past 5 years really developing her style which is heavily focused on texture through the drying process. She has shown both nationally and internationally in cities including but not limited to Prague, Oregon and Sacramento in solo and group shows, 8 in total and is currently working on a series reflecting her most recent diagnosis of stage 4 thymic cancer. Her work is extremely emotional as an abstract expressionist and directly reflective of her life’s journeys. She has participated in 2 residencies, one in Oregon and one Baltimore. Rose was also sent to South Africa as part of an artist immersion program through The House of Sedulo, a new Baltimore artist residency. Rebekah has been awarded 3 artists grants in the past 2 years to assist in her production of new works.
